A lake lies still in silence
And leaves are quietly rustling
By the lake, one dark night
A young partizan stands silently
A girl gave him the promise
That she will wait for the day
When freedom comes shining
And her partizan returns to her
When the second year of struggle passes
His darling receives the letter
That high up in the mountains
The partizan's heart was pierced by a bullet
A lake lies still in silence
And leaves are quietly rustling
At the bottom of the deserted lake
The heartbroken girl sleeps peacefully
